How do you define financial planning?

We believe that financial planning is the process of planning for, and meeting, your life goals through the proper management of your finances.  Your life goals may include buying a home, a fulfilling retirement, providing for your child’s education, protecting your family from a disability or providing contributions to charitable organizations you care about.

Who can benefit from your services?

Any individual or family seeking financial peace of mind can benefit from our services.  We work with clients from all walks of life.  Our clients have the flexibility to work with us on a one time as needed basis, or an ongoing more comprehensive basis.

How are you compensated for your services?

We are a Fee-Only financial planning and investment management firm.  Our only compensation comes from the fees we receive from our clients for the advice we provide.  Unlike many financial advisors, we never receive any commissions, finder’s fees or any other compensation which is contingent upon you purchasing a particular product.

Why should I choose a Fee-Only financial planner?

When dealing with your financial wellbeing, you need advice that you can trust.  The advice you receive should be independent and objective, not swayed by the interests of any outside third parties.  As a Fee-Only financial planners, we work solely for our clients, paid only by the fees they pay us for our advice.  Because we do not receive any commissions or sales incentive for our advice, we are able to remove the conflicts of interest with regards to compensation.  For more information on Fee-Only financial planning, visit the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) website at

How much do you charge for your financial planning services?

Our fees will vary from client to client depending on the services they are looking for.  The fees are based on the actual time involved in meeting with you in person or over the phone, researching and analyzing your current situation, and providing specific recommendations and implementation assistance (if appropriate).  We will work with you during our complimentary Introductory Meeting to determine what services may be best for you and provide you with an estimate of the fees at that time.

After concluding the Introductory Meeting, if you decide to engage our services we will ask that you sign our Advisory Agreement and pay a deposit based on the scope of our engagement.  The remainder of the fees will be due at the conclusion of the Financial Plan Presentation.

What does the financial planning process entail?

What is important to understand is that financial planning is a process, not a one-time event.  Your financial plans should be reviewed on an ongoing basis as your life changes so that revisions can be made.  The financial planning process used by Riverchase Financial Planning, LLC utilizes proven processes to guide our clients through their financial planning.  While the specific process used by our financial planners may vary slightly based on your specific needs, it usually involves gathering relevant financial information, setting your goals, examining your current financial status and developing a strategy or plan for how you can meet your goals given your current situation and future plans.

What areas of financial planning do you advise on?

Riverchase Financial Planning, LLC offers comprehensive financial planning services.  We have developed our 9 Wealth Points process to advise clients on the areas we found to be most important to our clients and their families.  These 9 Wealth Points include cash flow and debt management, investment analysis, tax planning, risk management, retirement planning, education planning, estate planning, legacy planning and planning for special situations.

Do you only offer comprehensive financial plans?

Absolutely not.  While we feel that a comprehensive plan provides the greatest benefits, we can limit services to specific areas of your concern such as cash flow analysis, budgeting, retirement needs analysis or education funding.

Once my financial plan is completed, what happens next?

During your Financial Plan Presentation we will discuss an appropriate plan for you to implement and monitor your plan.  You may choose to implement and monitor the plan yourself, or engage us to assist you.  We provide a 60 day period after the Financial Plan Presentation where you may call or e-mail us with questions relating to your plan without incurring new charges.

Your relationship with us will continue on an as-needed basis. There is no obligation to engage us further. You may call or e-mail us whenever you wish to initiate services.  If you wish, we can be pro-active in reminding you to schedule periodic reviews. Many clients like to have an annual plan review or update visit. Once we remind you that you are due for a review, you are responsible for calling us to schedule the meeting.

If you were to provide me on-going investment management services, do you take custody of, or will you have access to, my assets?

Other than receiving your permission to debit our fee from your investment account, we do not take custody of or have access to your assets.  We use an outside, third party custodian to hold any investment accounts we manage.
